Reasons to Learn About Different Cultures When You’re Young

The world is becoming smaller and smaller every day… and more interesting at the same time. Learning about new cultures and learning from them has become necessary to grow, to mature and even to make new friends. At Enforex Camps campers learn about the benefits of meeting people from around the world first hand.

As you know our camps are multicultural: Campers come from all over the world! Our camp counselors also organize activities and international festivals so that everybody gets to know each other and all campers feel like part of the group.

Learning about other cultures helps campers make closer friends with people from other countries, and learn how to be respectful of them, their cultures and their beliefs. We know it’s important to keep in mind the many differences that exist between cultures: some expressions or gestures that mean something in one culture can have a very different meaning in others for example.

Learning about other cultures helps prepare campers for the future. We’ve already mentioned that the world has become very small; we all know someone who has traveled to other countries! And we’re sure that many campers’ parents have had to travel for work! If campers know how people express themselve in other parts of the world, and about the customs and cultures of other countries, they will be prepared to go on new and interesting trips in the future and to get the most out of them.

Learning about different cultures is fun and interesting. It’s one thing to learn about world geography and history from books… and quite another to learn about these subjects from people from around the world! When campers from different countries tell each other stories about their lives and countries, all of them will be able to see how different and how similar they all are at the same time!

Learning about other cultures makes campers more tolerant and caring. When young people learn about people from other countries and about their customs and traditions, they will see that they have a lot in common with people from around the world; that a guy from Spain is just the like a girl from Germany… Everyone gets worried about that subject in school that’s hard for them, everyone wants to pass their exams, everyone wants to have a great summer… We all understand each other!

Learning about other cultures helps campers understand the world. If they make foreign friends and keep in touch by e-mail or on social networks, they will better understand their new friends’ countries too.

That’s why we think it is so important to have students from all over the world at our camps; because learning about other cultures and meeting people from all over the world makes us better people. It is the perfect time for campers to begin this adventure!

A Day at an Enforex Camp

We’re sure you’re wondering, what a typical day at an Enforex Camp is like? Well, since your wish is our command, we decided to write a post all about our day to day life at camp. Ready? We are!

Morning activities – start the day with energy!

Every day at camp starts with a good breakfast, the most important meal of the day! Juice, milk, fruit… Everything campers need to start the day full of energy.

After breakfast, the morning continues with language classes. On the first day of camp, students take language level tests, so that each student is placed in the class that is right for them. Our camp counselors and teachers make sure that language classes are interesting and educational, but more than anything fun.

Best of all, after class, campers can practice what they have learned with all of the other Spanish and international students at camp, which is an excellent way to gain new perspective on other cultures, languages and countries.

Campers will also spend the morning playing their favorite sports. Summer is the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy playing soccer or going sailing or horseback riding… campers choose the sports they like the best!

Afternoon activities – relax as the sun begins to fall

After lunch and a short rest, we start the afternoon with activities. First we start with different board games, warming up for an active afternoon and to go out on an excursion.

Depending on the camp location we take campers on different excursions. From Hoces del Duratón, Jávea, Parque de la Ciudatella, to the Oceanográfico… Campers at each destination go on unique excursions to enjoy a unique and exciting summer.

But the afternoon doesn’t end there, there is still time to enjoy tons of activities and workshops, such as our superhero costume workshop, where campers draw on their creative sides to create their own superheroes.

Evening activities – fun under the stars

Some of the things our campers like the most are the activities we do at night. We play plenty of games under the stars and enjoy every minute until it is time for bed.

One of the most popular nighttime activities is our Mystery Night. It’s like a live version of Clue in which campers have to solve mysteries acted out by camp counselors. It’s a great way to feel just like Sherlock Holmes!

But the last day of camp is the most special for a lot of campers. We all say goodbye and remember the good times we had with the photos and videos we took throughout the camp.

Now that you know a little more about day to day life at Enforex Camps what

are you waiting for? Your kids will have one of the best summers of their lives!

Why Should Our Kids Learn Languages?

We know that learning a language is good for our kids’ development, but what are the real, tangible benefits? In this article we’ll look at the true advantages of learning a language. Ready?

The most important thing, and what we are all probably thinking about when we think about the reasons to learn a language, is the possibility of communicating with people from different countries. We live in an increasingly globalized world, where we come into close contact with people who may have seemed very far away just a few years ago (and who still may be far away, physically, even though we work or interact with them closely). It is important to know our colleagues’ and counterparts’ languages, not only to understand and to be understood linguistically, but also in order to understand each other’s culture and traditions.

learning languages

This point goes hand in hand with the next: having a better understanding of the world that surrounds us. If our children learn a new language many more possibilities are open to them. They can read foreign authors, see shows and movies as original versions (without bothering with subtitles), and even follow the social media profiles of people they admire who speak a different language. All of the information that they have access to in this way can help them achieve a richer and more comprehensive vision of the world.

Another great advantage is greater access to higher-paying jobs. You’re probably thinking they’re too young to think about their future careers in a serious way, but the earlier they start to learn a language the better. We’re not going to get into technicalities or specific science, but it is proven that the brain is more receptive at an early age.

 making foreign friends

We’re also not going to say that learning a new language makes us smarter, but it’s true that it does help us exercise the brain. Learning new verbs, new structures, new sounds… all help us keep one of our most valuable and important muscles in shape. Understanding different structures in a second language also helps when it comes to learning a third language, making it possible to learn it much faster!

learning about the world

And finally the reason which is the most important to us: learning a new language is a way to make friends from around the world. Traveling becomes much more fun if you know the language spoken wherever you are. It becomes possible to talk to the locals and understand their culture and environment in a deeper way. It also makes it possible to create much deeper friendships that last forever.

At Enforex Camps, not only will your children be able to learn or improve their language level, they will also be able to practice with students from around the world. What are you waiting for? Your kids will have unforgettable summer! We can’t wait to meet them at Enforex Camps!

5 Reasons to Spend the Summer at an International Summer Camp

There are tons of reasons to spend a summer with campers from around the world, today we’ll take a look at the 5 most important ones:

camps_internacional3

1.       Your kids will meet people from around the world

At our camps we believe it’s important for kids to share an experience with campers from around the world. More than 32 nationalities enjoy the summer together at our international camps! They are ideal multicultural spaces where campers can explore different, enriching realities creating a unique experience which teaches them to tackle new challenges, deal with change and about how to get along with different kinds of people.

2.       They will learn a new language

Our campers not only share their stay with people from different nationalities, language classes are taught every week by native speakers. Spanish, German, Chinese… any language that might come in handy for a successful future can be learned and put into practice during an unforgettable summer.

3.       They will experience a new culture in a meaningful way

Experiencing about many new cultures, and about the Spanish culture in an integral way, will help them broaden their horizons and enjoy other traditions and customs that they have never experienced before. On a family trip abroad we are not always able to fully understand the culture that surrounds us and how different other cultures can really be. But by living with people from different places 24 hours a day, kids find themselves immersed in a complete cultural experience.

4.       They will increase their knowledge of the world

We live in a globalized world, where the greater our knowledge of it is, the more successful we will be. It is essential for our children to get out of their comfort zone and begin to understand the complexities of the different cultures that exist in the world.

5.       They will make lasting friendships

This may be a trite concept, but it is very true. When you are young it is easy to create intense friendships and when a new friend doesn’t live next door or even in the same country, it forces kids to make a bigger effort to maintain a friendship. These friends from around the world share different realities with one another helping each other better understand the world around them.

So it’s final. An international summer allows campers to enjoy an unforgettable stay, live with people from around the world, share in activities, trips and sports and learn about new cultures. Can you think of a better reasons for your kids to spend an unforgettable summer at an Enforex Camp?

Since When Is October 12 a National Holiday?

The following Wednesday, October 12 is a national holiday: as you well know, it is the commemoration of the day when Columbus discovered America, in 1492 (almost 520 years ago). Almost certainly, someone has told you that it was not Columbus, but the Vikings, who first reached America, but that is a separate issue and, given the fact that we have no proofs whatsoever of this, the official date of the discovery is still the one we celebrate.

The Holy Week (Semana Santa)

The Holy Week is that time of year when Christians commemorate the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It uniquely blends solemnity, gravity and celebration – in fact, there is plenty of celebration. Even though practically every village in the country has its own rites, certain things are quite common. Let us go through some of them.
